Questions

Is Ask Danny free?

Yes. There is nothing to buy and no card to enter. You can build lists as a guest without an account. To keep it free, each connection gets a limited number of lists per day.

Which stores does it cover?

Home Depot and Lowe's for home repairs, and AutoZone for car parts.

Are the aisle numbers right?

We only show an aisle number once someone has checked it in that store. Everywhere else you get the department and section, such as "Plumbing — toilet repair", because layouts differ from store to store and change after remodels. Prices are estimates and won't match your receipt exactly. Parts not matched to our product database are marked with an asterisk.

Does it tell me how to do the repair?

Yes, for common repairs: short steps in order, starting with the cheapest fix. They're general guidance, so follow the instructions for your model. For gas, electrical, structural or permitted work, it tells you to hire a licensed professional instead.

What happens to what I type?

Your description or photo is sent to an AI provider to build the list. As a guest, your history stays in your browser. The Privacy & AI Disclosure has the details.

Who makes Ask Danny?

Matthew Sanchez, an economics student at the University of Southern California. It is a beta, so please report a wrong aisle if you find one.
